Inferior counterfeit lubricants cause harm to car engines

As we all know, the normal operation of an engine is based on good lubrication. If low-quality engine oil that fails to meet quality standards is used, it will not be able to meet the most basic lubrication requirements of the engine. In mild cases, it will cause abnormal wear of the engine and shorten the service life of the engine. In severe cases, it will cause mechanical failures such as ablation and scratching of the various mating friction pairs of the engine due to serious poor lubrication.

The reason why cars need to be filled with engine oil is mainly that the engine oil forms an oil film on various friction parts of the engine to play a lubricating role, turning dry friction between metals into liquid friction between oil layers, reducing friction resistance and reducing wear of parts. At the same time, engine oil also plays roles such as cooling, cleaning, sealing, rust prevention and eliminating impact loads. However, inferior engine oil not only cannot play these roles, but also has many negative effects. This is because inferior engine oil has the following common characteristics.

1. Poor quality oil has poor cleanliness and dispersion. Inferior oil not only cannot clean away the dust inhaled in the air when the engine is working and the carbon deposits formed after combustion, but it is easy to oxidize to form colloids, which in combination with other impurities will lead to the formation of more carbon deposits, resulting in poor lubrication, increased wear and tear, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. In severe cases, the oil passage will be blocked, causing consequences such as cylinder pulling and tile holding.
2. Low temperature characteristics and oxidation resistance are very poor. The low temperature viscosity of inferior oil is too large, which makes the oil pump take longer to send to the friction parts of the engine, resulting in longer dry friction time of the engine; the high temperature viscosity is too thin, and an oil film with sufficient strength cannot be formed. These will lead to increased engine wear. At the same time, inferior oil is also easily oxidized and deteriorated in high temperature environments, losing its function.
3. Inferior oil has poor acid resistance and ability to neutralize acidic substances, and it contains high sulfur and other components. During the operation of the engine, every 1L of gasoline is burned, 1L of water is generated. When the water that cannot be removed and evaporated reacts with the sulfide generated by the combustion of fuel oil to form acid, resulting in acid corrosion to the engine.

There are various brands of lubricating oils on the market nowadays. Consumers should pay attention when making a choice. No matter how the oil is packaged, when choosing oil, we should first choose genuine products, that is, the engine oil produced by regular manufacturers with guaranteed quality. And regardless of the brand of the engine oil, the quality grade and viscosity grade of the oil will be marked on the packaging. Consumers should base on the oil grade specified in the vehicle’s operation and maintenance manual for their own vehicle models, and then select the appropriate oil by combining the specific condition of their vehicles and the local ambient temperature.
